Welcome to MOP KIDS!

Our MOP KIDS program provides care for children ages birth through kindergarten. While mothers attend the MOPS meetings, children enjoy a program designed to meet their needs.

Benefits for MOPS KIDS include:
  • Social growth through group activities and play.
  • Spiritual growth through Bible stories and values relevant to their lives.
  • Physical, emotional and creative development through crafts, games, snack and songs.
Your children will receive quality care and spiritual teaching through fun and educational activities while you attend the MOPS meeting. Playing, crafts and bible stories are all a part of the package.

The children are divided into age groups and are involved in planned activities that provide social growth and spiritual enrichment, including a curriculum base for young preschool and preschool age children.  The children attend a music class, and have outdoor play time.  In addition the older children do crafts.

We realize that this may be a new experience for your child and that he or she may have trouble separating from you. You can take comfort in knowing that your child will have nurturing care.  During the meeting should your child need you, you can rest assured you will be contacted.

For your child's time in MOP KIDS, please plan to bring a snack, as well as any diapers, wipes, bottles and changes of clothes they may need for the morning.  Closed-toe shoes are required.  MOP KIDS is a NUT-FREE environment.  If you bring any snack that may be confused with peanuts, please label them (sunflower butter is acceptable) clearly.

We always have room for more moms in our MOPS group. However, in order to keep MOP KIDS classes at sizes that are manageable and safe for our little ones, we sometimes must suspend enrollment in our MOP KIDS program.

Guidelines for MOPPETS

Helpful Information

Our MOPPETS program is critical to the success of our MOPS organization. Without the dedication of our MOPPETS volunteers and workers, we could not offer our ministry.

The following are guidelines essential to the care and development of your children.

  1. Please label your child’s belongings: especially bottles, pacifiers, drinking cups and diapers.
  2. If you have an infant, providing a small blanket is encouraged.
  3. Be sure to initial the sign in sheet when you drop your child off to ensure we have an accurate attendance record.
  4. Have your child finish all food and dispose of gum before arriving.
  5. If you remove your child from the childcare room for ANY reason, please check sign him/her OUT and IN by using the sign in/out sheets.
  6. Due to legal reasons, you MUST be in the building at all times while your child is in childcare. Special permission/release forms are required for watching children when parents are not present.
  7. Please pick your child up immediately when dismissed, and sign them out.
  8. We will not allow your child to cry for more than 10 minutes for the well-being of your child and the other children around him or her. A caregiver or MOPPETS coordinator will come get you if your child needs you.
  9. Please try NOT to bring toys from home. If a familiar item is needed for comfort, please limit it to one item and be sure it is labeled.
  10. Please remember to thank our MOPPETS workers and volunteers. We really appreciate their hard work and commitment to MOPS and want them to know how important they are.

When Your Child Cries…..We would love for your child to take advantage of our age-appropriate activities and lessons in our moppets program. We understand you may need to keep them with you at times. If you desire to have your child with you, please be sensitive to those around you. If your child becomes fussy, you may sit in the back or exit to the foyer where you can still hear the speaker.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sick Child Policy

Fever
Fevers are common in young children and are often a signal that something is wrong.  If your child has a fever of 101.0F or higher, please keep him or her home.  If your child develops a fever of 101.0F or higher while at MOPPETS, you will be called to pick him/her up.  If your child’s fever is less than 101.0 F, you will be notified and you may express your wishes to us at that time.

Our policy is that your child must remain free of fever for 24 hours before returning to MOPPETS, and area pediatricians agree with this policy.  The 24 hours begins when your child’s fever has broken and remains in a normal range.

Diarrhea and Vomiting
Diarrhea due to illness is highly contagious.  If your child has diarrhea, please keep him/her home.  If your child has 3 or more diarrhea episodes, or any uncontained diarrhea while at MOPPETS, you will be called to pick him/her up.  Our care providers use gloves while changing diapers and use proper hand washing techniques between diaper changes.  The changing table is also disinfected after every diaper change.  Please understand that germs from diarrhea can be spread through carpets, toys, swings and direct contact.  It is very difficult to keep from spreading these germs to other children.

If your child vomits while at MOPPETS, you will be called immediately to pick him/her up.  Please keep your child at home until 24 hours after the vomiting has stopped.  When children return too soon, there is a much higher rate of recurrence and contagiousness.

Coughs and Colds
Colds are a common occurrence.  However, there are some symptoms that warrant keeping a child home.  These include, but are not limited to:  bad cold with hacking or persistent cough, green or yellow nasal drainage, productive cough with green or yellow phlegm being coughed up.  These symptoms may be present with or without a fever.

If your child has just a cold, please notify their teacher.  We encourage extra fluids and proper hand washing.  If there are cold medicines you know will make your child more comfortable, we will administer them with your written permission.  Please do not expect a teacher to keep a child with a cold indoors.  If your child cannot participate in the ordinary daily routine, he/she is probably too sick to be in MOPPETS.  Fresh air with proper attire is always healthy.

Rash
A rash may be a sign of many illnesses, such as measles or chicken pox.  In infants, an external rash may be a sign that something is going on internally.  Please do not send your child to MOPPETS with a rash until the doctor says it is O.K. to do so.

Doctor’s O.K.
In some instances you will be asked to keep your child home until we have written permission from your doctor saying your child is well enough to return to MOPPETS.  Please understand this is for your child’s well being along with the well being of the healthy children at MOPPETS and their families.

Bringing In Ill Children
If your child is not infectious and your doctor has said they may return to MOPPETS, but your child is still not feeling 100%, please see that we have everything to make him/her comfortable.  Items such as extra clothing, pillows, blankets, medication, etc. are very helpful to your child.

Medications
If your child goes to the pediatrician and is prescribed medication, please keep your child home until they have completed 24 hours of antibiotic treatment.  If your child is to receive antibiotics at MOPPETS, please bring in the labeled bottle from the pharmacy and a syringe or other measuring device.  We can administer antibiotics and other medications to your child with your written consent.

Thank you!
